Visting Tokyo (kind off…)

Traveling during this time is not this easy.
However you can take little trips abroad without leaving your own country.

After seeing lots of TikToks from other people, me and one of my friends decided to take a little day trip to Düsseldorf and visit a neighborhood called Little Tokyo.

The TikToks showed amazing food and drinks which we both really wanted to try. And after always sending TikToks and saying:”Oh my good, we really have to go there” and “We have to try these out”, we planed our trip by looking up the locations of the places and where the nearest parking lot was.

On Friday the 22nd of May my friend picked me up at my house in Cologne and we drove by car to Düsseldorf. During the ride we catched up on everything and talked about our lifes. Normally the ride takes about 40min but we needed about an hour, because we missed the exit from the highway two times… (upsi). We parked in a parking lot located in the Kreuz Str.

Little Tokyo is located on the Immermann Str. which is just around the corner. However we kinde missed it the first time… (hehe). While walking the streets we realized, that Düsseldorf has opened its outside restaurants and we decided to eat some lunch.

We hadn’t planed a place to eat lunch so we just walked down the street to look for a place to eat. After walking up and down the street we decided to go to an vegan Vietnamese (sadly I forgot the name of it and Google isn’t a big help). Unfourntly we could eat there because we didn’t have a negative Covid-Test (which I can understand). So we picked our food to go. We both got large bowls with noddles and vegtables. The staff members were really friendly, the food was ready really fast and each off us got two spring rolls for free. Because we took the food ToGo we got 10% off. We went to a little park and started eating. It was so delicious and we got nicely full.

Now it’s time for dessert. We wanted back on the main street and visited the places where we wanted to go. The first on was a shop called Bing Go which sells something called Taiyaki. It’s a fish shaped waffle with filling. I got one with oreo and my friend one with vanilla. Next to the shop is a bubble tea place called Sphere Bay. We picked up our bubble tea, I got green tea base with apple flavor and lychee bubbles and my friend got one with green tea base mango flavor and kiwi bubbles. The staff was really friendly and helpful(!).

We took our fish and drinks and went to another park a little bit further away but still in walking distance and started eating. The Taiyaki with oreo filling was really good. Really really good. It was not too sweet and oily. However I accidentally crushed it a little bit, so be carful. The vanilla filling was also good but I personally couldn’t eat a whole fish with this filling because it was a little too sweet for my liking. The boba was also really good.

My crushed fish :(

After finishing our food and drinks we went to GoAsia which is an asian supermarket and bought some things there and we drove of home.

Little Tokyo may not look like Tokyo or Asia at all but it has lots of shops and restaurants to try out and explore if you look for authentic asian food. It was nice to go to a different city and explore one of its neighborhoods. If you have the chance to take a day trip like this I 100% recommend to it!!!
